Children aren’t just small adults, especially when it comes to their mental health. The highly trained clinicians in Tufts Medical Center’s Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry understand this, and we do everything in our power to help kids and their families cope — and thrive.
We provide expert evaluation and treatment of a wide range of emotional, cognitive and behavioral problems. In particular, we offer specialized care for children and teens with autism spectrum disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and mental health concerns resulting from trauma, parental loss, illness and more. Our aim is to help kids develop confidence in themselves and learn with their families to manage the stress that can influence mental health — all in a warm, welcoming and kid- and teen-friendly environment.
A team approach
We don't do this critical work on our own. Instead, we take a team approach to child and adolescent psychiatry, collaborating with our colleagues in pediatrics, developmental pediatrics, neurology and other specialties to provide comprehensive care. Because a child’s mental health can both affect and be affected by his or her environment, we offer family therapy to include parents and siblings in the treatment process.
We also believe that it is our responsibility not only to help those that come to our center to seek out care, but to help those in need within our community. To that end, our clinicians provide agencies, schools and residential centers with expert consultations into the care and treatment of childhood and adolescent psychiatric disorders. It’s all with the goal of seeing and helping every young patient in need.
