Fracture and Trauma Care Program

The Fracture and Trauma Care Program at Tufts Medical Center in Boston provides outstanding care to children who have severe fractures, as well as kids who have more routine fractures. Whether your child comes to our Emergency Department or is referred to us by your primary care doctor, he or she will be in excellent hands. As a certified Level I Trauma Center, we’re qualified to treat every level of joint, muscle and bone injury.

Hospitals throughout Massachusetts regularly refer children to us who have the most complicated injuries because of our orthopedists’ surgical experience and expertise. Additionally, we have every advanced resource and service necessary to treat your child, which not only covers surgery for acute injuries, but recovery and rehabilitation too.

We can offer such comprehensive care because we work in collaboration with the world-renowned Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute (KPTI) at Tufts Medical Center. The KPTI is the first pediatric trauma center in the world to provide care for injured children, research on pediatric trauma and injury prevention programs for children and their families.

Complete care

When a child breaks a bone, it can be terrifying. If you bring your child to Tufts Medical Center, you’ll have peace of mind: one or more of our attending (supervising) trauma surgeons will perform your child’s procedure. Additionally, your child’s doctor will work closely with you to develop a care plan that addresses your child’s needs, including recovery, rehabilitation and education about preventing further injury.

Every aspect of your child’s health is covered by our team members in programs such as:

All of these resources are available here at Tufts Medical Center. And we can coordinate many services close to your home through our network of regional and local providers. From start to finish, we have your child’s comfort and well-being completely covered.
