Susan K. Parsons, MD, MRP is the Director of The Center for Health Solutions and the Center on Child and Family Outcomes at the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts Medical Center. She is a Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Parsons was awarded a BA from Kirkland College and a Master of Regional Planning degree (MRP) at Cornell University. Following professional experience in health economics and planning, she attended Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons where she received a medical degree. Dr. Parsons completed her residency training in pediatrics at Children's Hospital Boston and fellowship training in pediatric hematology/oncology at the Children's Hospital Boston/ Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Parsons' clinical interest is in the area of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and survivorship of childhood cancer. She served as an attending physician on the Pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) service at Children's Hospital Boston for twelve years, also attending on the adult HSCT service at the Brigham and Women's Hospital for six years. Since her move to Tufts MC in 2003, she has continued to provide outpatient care to long-term survivors of pediatric cancers and HSCT at the Tufts Medical Center.

Dr. Parsons' primary research interests include the assessment of quality of life, functional impact, and fiscal impact of chronic illness on children and their families with a focus on childhood cancer and HSCT. She is also actively involved in survey instrument and methodological design and interpretation and actively mentors health professionals in this field. She is the director of the program on Measurement, Outcomes, and Statistics, of the Tufts-wide Cancer Center.

Dr. Parsons was a recipient of career development awards from the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Cancer Society and was a Dyson Scholar in Clinical Research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Among her professional activities, she is an active member of the Children's Oncology Group, a member of the BMT InfoNet Board of Scientific Advisors, and a recent member of expert panel of the American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplant on transplant indications for children and adults with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Her research has been supported in part by grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society.
