How to Apply

Applicants must register with the National Resident Matching Program for PL-1 positions. We require an application using ERAS (the electronic system which allows applicants to transmit all application materials directly to our program via the Internet), a personal statement, three letters of recommendation (at least one from a pediatrician), a Dean's letter, a transcript of your medical school record, copies of USMLE scores or dates you plan to take them.

International/Foreign, Canadian and osteopathic medical graduates should consult ERAS for application instructions.

Please note:

  • We sponsor only J-1 visas.
  • International medical school graduates must be ECFMG certified by the start of residency.
  • We do not have USMLE score requirements. We require passing scores on USMLE 1, 2CK and 2CS by start of residency.
  • We do not have a cut off for number of years since graduating medical school.
  • Invitations to interview will be sent after October 21.

Scheduling an Interview

After the applications are reviewed, invitations will be sent via email. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer interviews to all qualified applicants. As invited applicants plans and interests changes throughout the season we do our best to fill all available interview slots. For 2020-21 interviews will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays from early November through mid-January. Applicants who are invited to interview can self-schedule through our online booking systems.

The Interview Day

Although we are disappointed we don’t have the opportunity to meet applicants in person, we are confident we will be able to impart to you what is most special about training at the Floating through the voices of our program leadership, faculty interviewers, and most importantly residents. All our recruitment activities will be via zoom for 2020-21. The interview day begins at 8am with morning report followed by an overview of the residency experience. Applicants will join a virtual tour, meet with residents for a Q&A session, and participate in two interviews before ending the day around 1:30pm.  Applicants are also invited to an optional evening social gathering via zoom to get to know our residents in a more casual atmosphere.
