Putting girls and young women first
Gynecology isn’t just for adult women. Sometimes, girls and teens need specialized care, too. At the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology program at Tufts Medical Center, our team of experienced doctors provides care to children and adolescents—from birth to age 24—with a wide variety of gynecologic issues. We understand the unique needs of our younger female patients and their families, and strive to make every visit as comfortable as possible. And because we are the only program of our kind in the Boston area that continues to provide care for adult women, you can be sure that your child will receive the highest quality care available that can continue for her lifetime.
Girls and teens aren’t small women. Our pediatric and adolescent patients have very different gynecological concerns—and those issues require special skills and knowledge. We evaluate and treat a range of issues, including vulvovaginitis, prepubertal vaginal bleeding, precocious puberty, trauma, lichen sclerosis, labial adhesions, menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain, and congenital reproductive anomalies. We also provide routine gynecological screenings, prenatal care, contraception for medically ill patients and preventive counseling for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases—all delivered with a compassionate, gentle approach that puts children first.
